The Historical Legend of the Rooster

You will soon notice in the village as well as in the Hacienda, the presence of many rooster weathervane’s, sculptures, and art. In Christianity, the rooster is noted for crowing three times after Peter denied Christ. It signifies redemption and forgiveness.

One of the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac, the rooster is a Chinese symbol of honesty, as well as physical and moral fortitude. It is the yang attribute and signifies fortune, luck, fidelity, protection as well as bossiness. Roosters are also a symbol of intelligence, wisdom and the divine, since they are messengers between heaven and earth.

Roosters also represent the soul. When they fly, they are released from the earthly world. In the West, the rooster is associated to the sacred. Roosters teach us how to awaken our inner strength and how to stand confident when sharing our voice. It symbolizes that we must be true to ourselves and show the world the different possibilities that surround us.

Wise man is the rooster of the universe: He awakens the unawake.
